What is online therapy?

Online therapy offers the same depth, care and relational focus as in person sessions, simply delivered through a secure video platform rather than in a consulting room.

You and I meet at an agreed time, just as we would face to face. The difference is that you join from a space that feels comfortable and familiar to you. Your home, your office, or wherever you are able to sit privately and without interruption.

The therapeutic relationship remains central. The conversations are just as thoughtful, reflective and personal. Many people are surprised by how connected and contained online work can feel.

What are the benefits?

For many people, online therapy offers the same effectiveness as meeting in person, with some additional practical advantages.

Ease and accessibility
There is no travel time and no need to factor in journeys at the beginning and end of your session. Therapy fits more easily around work, parenting and other commitments.

Comfort and familiarity
Being in your own environment can help you feel more at ease. Some clients find it easier to open up when they are in a space that already feels safe.

Flexibility
Sessions can be arranged at a time that works for you, without the added logistics of commuting or parking.

Privacy
You remain in control of who knows you are accessing therapy. There is no possibility of being seen entering or leaving a practice.

Things to consider

Online therapy is a good fit for many people, but it is important to reflect on whether it feels right for you.

You might want to consider:

• Are you comfortable using video technology?
• Would you prefer the experience of sitting together in the same room?
• Do you feel able to express your thoughts and feelings verbally?
• Do you have a private space where you can talk openly and without interruption?
• Does your current situation feel manageable to explore online?

If you are unsure, we can think about this together. An initial conversation can help you decide what feels most supportive for you at this point in your life.

Therapy, whether online or in person, begins with finding a space where you feel safe enough to talk.
