Organisational Constellations

How can an organisational constellation help your business?

Every organisation has a visible structure. Roles, reporting lines, strategies and objectives.

It also has an invisible structure. Loyalties, histories, power dynamics, unresolved tensions and unspoken stories that shape how people relate and how decisions are made.

When challenges persist despite analysis, strategy reviews or restructuring, it is often because something systemic is at play beneath the surface.

Organisational constellations offer a powerful and distinctive way of exploring complex issues within this wider relational field. They help to uncover what may be held in the background of the system, bringing clarity to patterns that are difficult to see through traditional approaches alone.

Leaders often find that constellations reveal the root of an issue more quickly than expected. What initially appears to be a performance concern, a communication breakdown or a strategic dilemma can turn out to have deeper relational or historical influences. When these are seen and acknowledged, sustainable solutions become more accessible.

This process is not designed for crisis intervention. It is best suited to thoughtful exploration. It can support strategic decision making, leadership transitions, succession planning, cultural challenges or situations where progress feels blocked without a clear explanation.

By addressing the underlying systemic tensions, constellations can release energy and resources that have been tied up in unresolved dynamics. The result is often a renewed sense of direction, coherence and movement within the organisation.

How do organisational constellations work? Constellations are usually offered as a focused, stand alone session lasting between two and four hours. They take place face to face in a private indoor setting, creating a contained space for careful exploration. The session unfolds in three stages.

Discovery and mapping
We begin with a detailed conversation about your presenting issue. Together we explore the organisational context, the key relationships and the significant influences that may be shaping the situation. This allows us to build a picture of the organisational web in which the issue sits.

Working with the constellation
Using this map, we externalise elements of the system to make the relational dynamics visible. This often brings immediate insight into tensions, exclusions or competing loyalties that have been operating unconsciously. From here, we explore shifts that can begin to restore balance and clarity.

Integration
At the end of the session there is space to reflect on what has emerged. We make sense of the experience together and consider any practical next steps, ensuring the insights gained can be translated thoughtfully into your leadership and organisational context. Organisational constellations can be difficult to fully imagine until experienced.
